Last week, Aptera Motors updated the press on where things stand for the Aptera 2e electric car. Based on their release, things are progressing very nicely for the Aptera 2e and it’s impending production launch.

Aptera Motors introduced the design intend Aptera 2e, and also did well at the Progressive Insurance X Prize Shakedown event. While Aptera President and CEO Paul Wilbur admitted that the company is behind schedule, they have been successful in securing additional financing from new and existing investors, despite a very tough economic and investment climate. Thats good news, but they do still have one more financial hurdle to get over. Once the next round of financing is taken care of, it will take about 11 months to begin full volume production of the the Aptera 2e.

Aptera Motors also advised that almost 90 % of the production materials cost for the Aptera 2e will be sourced from American companies, and will be assembled by American workers. Some of the 23 suppliers include GE, A123 Systems (battery supplier), Remy International (electric motor supplier), and BorgWarner (transmissions).

All in all, a positive new update from Aptera Motors and their exciting Aptera 2e.
